The Friends of the Roanoke Rapids Public Library was organized in 1962 to help raise funds to build, furnish, equip, and maintain the current facility we enjoy today.
The Friends of the Library meets regularly to support and represent the Library in the community. We urge city, county and state governments to continue to increase their support for libraries. We also recruit and coordinate volunteers for all kinds of jobs that the Library needs done.
Our Annual membership dues and the proceeds of other fundraising activities are used to buy new library books and provide special programs for adults and children, and to enhance other library services not provided for in the city budget.
The Friends make a positive difference in the lives of the citizens of Roanoke Rapids by promoting awareness and interest in the public library. Your greatest benefit from joining the Friends is the satisfaction of making an important contribution to the quality of your library. Together with the Friends you can help insure healthy growth in library services and resources. And enjoy friendship with a diverse and interesting group of people who share your commitment to books and the public library.
